ICAP is a not-for-profit organization, supported by major producers of beverage alcohol. It is a resource for all those interested in alcohol policy worldwide. ICAP promotes dialogue involving the drinks industry, the research and public health communities, government, and civil society, encouraging them to work together.
Most ICAP publications are available online, and many have been translated in part or in full into several languages.
ICAP advocates a partnership approach because of its potential for considerable added-value in both policy development and harm reduction programs. The evidence is strong, but partnerships require commitment and dedication to making them work. The core values of partnership are: mutual respect, trust, transparency, and shared benefits. Some examples and case studies are included in the ICAP Blue Book: Practical Guides for Alcohol Policy and Prevention Approaches. The following sections describe ICAP’s partnership approach to developing and implementing alcohol policies and programs as a collective responsibility of all stakeholders in society.
