ICAP is a not-for-profit organization, supported by major producers of beverage alcohol. It is a resource for all those interested in alcohol policy worldwide. ICAP promotes dialogue involving the drinks industry, the research and public health communities, government, and civil society, encouraging them to work together.
Most ICAP publications are available online, and many have been translated in part or in full into several languages.
Drunkenness is not a drinking pattern but the outcome of certain patterns that involve the consumption of substantial amounts of alcohol in a brief period of time. Often also referred to as "intoxication," drunkenness is associated with a range of health and social concerns, including alcohol-impaired driving, public order issues, and violence. Targeted interventions aimed at reducing drunkenness and its adverse outcomes are important prevention mechanisms.
