ICAP Policy Guides

ICAP Policy Guides are intended to provide a general introduction to the alcohol policy planning and development.  They are a first point of contact with the wider range of ICAP Policy Tools, providing a road-map of other relevant ICAP materials and in-depth coverage of specific topics.  Their purpose is to familiarize the user with the breadth of available resources by providing an easy-to-use overview.

We recommend that the Policy Guides be used in conjunction with ICAP’s other, more comprehensive, Policy Tools, including the ICAP Blue Book.

Guide to Creating Integrative Alcohol Policies

Sets the stage for alcohol policy development and introduces the user to the main principles underlying ICAP’s policy approach: drinking patterns, targeted interventions, and partnership. (Spanish), (French) 

Policy Planning and Choice: Guide to Feasible Interventions

Examines different population-level and targeted interventions aimed at reducing the potential harm associated with drinking and reviews their specific objectives and targets, likely outcomes of implementation, resources required, and relative appropriateness. (Spanish), (French) 

Quick Reference Guide to the ICAP Blue Book: Implementing Alcohol Policy and Targeted Interventions

Offers a menu of various policy options available and serves as an index to the more in-depth ICAP Blue Book. (Spanish), (French)

Guide to Building Partnerships

Makes the case for partnership, identifies potential partners, and outlines how relationships can be built.
