In order to celebrate its tenth anniversary, ICAP hosted a gala dinner in London on June 9th 2005.  Dinner guests included representatives from ICAP’s sponsor companies, members of the public health community and members of governments.  The evening’s proceedings included toasts from Peter Mitchell, John McGrath and Keith Evans, that recounted the origins of ICAP and celebrated its many achievements through the years.
 
Prof. Joyce O'Connor and Dr. Jacques Baudouy The gala dinner was also an opportunity to release two new ICAP publications.  Guests received copies of ICAP’s ten year report, International Center for Alcohol Policies: The First Ten Years and the Just-drinks.com management briefing, Alcohol policies in context: international perspectives-1995 to 2015 .  Both of these reports are available for download in the ‘Other Publications’ section of this site.

 One highlight of the evening was the presentation of the ICAP Award for Effective Partnership to Professor Joyce O’Connor.  Dr. Jacques Baudouy, Director of Health, Nutrition and Population at the World Bank, who served as chairman of the award selection committee, read the citation and presented the award.  Professor O’Connor, who is President of the National College of Ireland, was selected from a broad range of nominees involved in the alcohol and partnership arena.  Her achievements in the area of alcohol policy and partnership span a thirty plus year career, during which she has brought the concepts of partnership into research, international cooperation, education and training, as well as business, entrepreneurship and community service.
